The 2022 Fresh Air Challenge - Te Wero Hauhau starts soon!

(Note: Prior to September, feel free to familiarise yourself with the challenge website; log some trips and share with your colleagues and friends! All trips logged before September will be set back to zero, all ready to commence on day one of the challenge!)

Here comes a perfect opportunity to grow your sustainable transport habits! Take the month of September to motivate yourself and your team mates to make smart transport choices. Reduce your reliance of the car and costly fuel by choosing to:

Bike, e-bike, walk, run, bus, scooter (or skate), e-scooter, ride share (2+ people per car) or saving km by working from home or virtual meetings online.

Simply register for the challenge then log your September commutes or outings whenever you choose a sustainable mode of transport. See those active, sustainable transport kilometres grow!

Fun, rewarding, great for your health, good for the environment and lots of spot prizes to be won each week - Why not do your bit and enjoy the rewards!

Today is the final day of the November Fresh Air Challenge, so get your last few kilometres of active and sustainable travel in today. Observe the rich green vegetation of our parks, paths and streets and embrace this gentle, warm rain. Connect with nature for your hauora (wellbeing)!

Log your November trips by the end of Wednesday 1st December.

The Fresh Air Challenge is a great way to develop your active/sustainable travel habits for this month and as a platform into the longer term. Everyone who contributes is:

1. Helping reduce congestion in our beautiful district

2. Taking control of their health and wellbeing

3. Improving the quality of the air we all breathe into our lungs

4. Integrating more with the community during their commute

Week 3 can feel like an effort but remember to be strong, determined and proud! Go for it and keep logging those trips!

Keep logging your trips

Log your trips by 4pm today to be in to win one of this week's prizes.

Remember that you can also log trips over the weekend to contribute towards next week too. Primarily, the Fresh Air Challenge is about inspiring sustainable commutes to and from work or school. However, any trip from A to B where you choose active/sustainable travel instead of a single occupancy car journey can be logged.

Welcome to the Fresh Air Challenge 2021

Steps to getting fitter, healthier and happier when you sign up to the Fresh Air Challenge:

1. Check out your dashboard on the Fresh Air Challenge website

2. Decide how you are going to travel and make a plan even if it's just changing one trip up a week - walk, ride, bus, rideshare. If you need some help working out the best route email us at letsgo@npdc.govt.nz

3. Pump yourself up - you can do this!

4. Get your workmates in on it - the more people doing it the better for everyone.

6. Choose your day and get organised before you travel

7. Get some fresh air from November 1st

8. Log your trips every week by Friday 4pm to be in to win spot prizes.
